Indian Food

Indian food has been popular in the UK for decades now but history suggests that for the first signs of curry on a menu in the UK you can look back as far as 1773, the restaurant was the Coffee House on Norris street which was in the Haymarket area of London.

However the very first restaurant dedicated solely to curry was opened in 1809 and was known as the Hindostanee Coffee House which was on George Street in the Portman Square area of London, according to the Epicures Almanack.

If you walk down any high street in the country these days you will see at least one Indian restaurant if not a number of them all vying for your business.

The days of paisley carpeted Indian restaurants that are only being frequented by customers at last orders and the closing of the pubs are now long gone. Stylish Indian restaurants nestle effortlessly amongst designer bars in exclusive areas offering fine Indian fusion food and a warm reception to diners wanting a good night out.

The majority of these restaurants offer their fine cuisine as a takeaway option with most offering an average of 10% as a discount for eating at home.
